The Crafty Nest is a homey little shop full of hand painted vintage furniture, hand made home decor and crafts as well as the amazing Autentico Chalk Paint products (Authorised Stockist and Workshop) located at 78 Walton Road, East Molesey KT8 0DL. You'll find us busy painting away or making crafts - please pop by. We're conveniently located for easy access for Surrey, Middlesex, Hampshire and Berkshire.
Our opening hours are usually on our home page and below - please do check as they may vary week to week. We're also open on Ladies Nights from 7 - 9:30pm with additional dates by appointment (i.e., we love to do private painting or craft parties!)

Bespoke Furniture Painting Service We love painting your furniture for you, bringing new life to your pieces of furniture. Please contact us to organise a visit/appointment so we may see your piece(s), understand your vision or ask for our help upcycling your piece. All pieces must be assessed in person in order to provide a quote for our service.
We are your local stockist of Autentico Paints and sundries (brushes, waxes, stencils etc) as well as Autentico branded Polyvine varnish. Autentico Paint is REAL Chalk Paint, with at least 35% chalk, not "chalk like" or "chalky" imitation chalk paint. You do need to know that the application is not the same as using gloss paint nor like emulsion (which are not suitable for furniture painting nor as versatile in crafts). As we are also Authorised and approved Autentico Workshop, Please do come along to one of our chalk paint classes/workshops in Surrey and we have many who come from Middlesex, Hampshire, Berkshire and London due to our great location, knowledge and skill teaching all levels of furniture painting - as well as how you can use the paints for so much more! We can also offer private classes too, especially if you would like assistance painting a particular piece from start to finish. We can offer one to one tuition if you prefer - we will also paint your pieces for you. Just contact us to learn more about booking a commissioned bespoke painted piece.
The Crafty Nest Furniture Painting, Crafts Workshop, Upholstery workshops and Chalk Paint classes are the long term dream of Alicia. After many years of corporate life she finally is able to do what she really loves – creating beautiful things, teaching fun crafts/furniture painting with Autentico Chalk Paint, indulging in her love of all things shabby chic and meeting lots of lovely people. Alicia learned her crafting from years of scouting but mostly from her talented Grandma. Her love of all things French (especially provincial style) started her furniture painting and she has had different “projects” on the go one after the other for over 25 years and, thanks to a supportive hubby, thrilled to have been able to start this full time from Sept 2012 after first starting with a Jocasta Innes book using oil based paints then moving on to Annie Sloane "chalk paint" classes - firstly using those paints for teaching furniture paiting and then after discovering the "charm of chalk" (real chalk paint) and further specialist Autentico Chalk Paint Dealer training, became an authorised stockist and workshop for Autentico Chalk Paints. The classes originally started in Alicia's own dining room until requiring more space (and to keep that lovely hubby happy), hence eventually moving into a dedicated shop, firstly in Send and now in the fabulous East Molesey location where we started trading from in early November 2016.
The Crafty Nest itself is a little shop in the heart of East Molesey, close to Hampton Court and the fabulous antiques market at Kempton Race Course, Sunbury upon Thames – near to Walton on Thames, Esher, Thames Ditton, Teddington, Kingston-upon-Thames, Oxshott, Cobham, Weybridge, Guildford and Woking in Surrey and also about 20 minutes from Egham, Virginia Water, Ascot, Windsor. Most furniture painting, chalk paint and crafts classes are during the day during school term time BUT there are also Ladies Nights twice a month as well as many Saturday furniture painting workshops.We're currently trialing Sunday paint classes - look for our special offer on these. The Crafty Nest can also host small private chalk paint and craft parties for adults or children (with accompanying adults) as well as private family craft sessions. Personal "OPEN WORKSHOP" - Use of Workshop – if you’re an experienced painter, have an item you would like to paint & use the work shop, Alicia’s stock vintage paints & stencils, you can book slots as & when available on a case by case basis. Fee is 20/hr per person for an initial 2 hour slot & 1 hour slots thereafter on the same day. This is without instruction from Alicia. If you would like to have instruction from Alicia during your session, the fee is £35/hr per person in an initial 2 hour slot, 1 hour slots thereafter on the same day. This must be agreed in advance as otherwise during Open Studio Alicia will be continuing to work on project.
Ladies Nights & Private Parties – Any craft of 2.5 hours or less can be done during this time & must be booked in advance on a session by session basis. Time is 7:00 pm to 9:30 pm sharp (hard stop due to lease restrictions). Snacks provided, Wine glasses available & is BYOB. Ladies nights take place on Mondays or Thursdays, please see the Ladies Night of Craft page for more information. If you would like your own private Ladies Night - on a night of your choice - for a group of friends either @ The Crafty Nest or in your home, please contact Alicia. Private Ladies Night has a minimum of 4 crafts to be completed & 50% non-refundable booking fee applies.
Commissions/bespoke furniture painting service If you have a piece of furniture that you would like painted by Alicia, please ring 02089411944 or 07788755566 to discuss your ideas. We can even come to you to view your pieces. We do need to see the item in person in order to assess and provide your quotation. We are very sorry but we cannot provide a confirmed quotation via photograph.
Scouting - Special crafts can be organised for the scouting organisations. Contact Alicia to discuss your requirements.
Family Craft and Private Sessions – For private parties/sessions** or one to one classes, please contact Alicia directly at alicia@craftynest.co.uk. Kindly note that children are not permitted during Ladies Nights or regular sessions. To help share the love of Crafting, we have introduced Family Craft Sessions, scouting sessions and birthday parties.These are private sessions. Children must be accompanied at all times by an adult. Children (where age appropriate) can do any craft from the brochure or a special craft project for ages 6+ - their own felt pillow (£10). Choice of 2 pillow types on the day. Please contact the shop to book family craft sessions, birthday parties, scouting sessions or private parties.
**Minimum requirement for private sessions are any 3 items. Often we can provide a discount for 4 items or more.
